It’s the nation’s largest and best-attended auto show and is held each February in the windy city’s McCormick Place convention center. And you could call 2019 the year of the big reveal at the Chicago Auto Show, with big debuts from Mazda, Chevrolet, Subaru, Ram, Ford, and many others. And despite a slowing market for auto shows in general, there was a bump in attendance this year. Nearly 1,000 cars, trucks and SUV’s were on display and here are just some of the highlights of this spectacular 10-day event.
2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty
After three years on sale the freshly updated F-Series Super Duty was on show in Chicago for the first time. Tech updates are significant with features like the pedestrian-detecting collision-mitigating braking, automatic high beams, lane-keep assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. There are also two new V8 engines including a 7.3-liter giant and a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD
Many may find it ugly but Chevy’s new big pickup will be sure to get all your work done! Chevrolet is saying this will be the most capable Silverado HD yet. It can tow as much as 35,500 pounds, so there’s no doubt about how strong this bad boy is.

2019 Ram 1500
Ram debuted a new multifunction tailgate on the all-new RAM 1500 this year in Chicago. It can operate as a regular tailgate and support up to 2,000 pounds, or it can be opened as 60/40 split double doors. Loading and unloading will soon get much easier!
2020 Jeep Gladiator
The highly anticipated Jeep Gladiator was on full display and the off-road, mid-size truck fully lived up to expectations. It hasn’t been in production since 1988 so many were happy to see it back. Features include a maximum towing capacity of 7,650 pounds, and it comes with either a soft top or hard top and has a removable rear seat, top, and doors.
And the Rest in a Nutshell
There were quite a few anniversaries this year in Chicago -Mazda debuted its MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition in the city where it all began! And Chrysler celebrated 35 years of making minivans with the 2019 Pacifica 35th Anniversary Edition. Sedan sales are down but Subaru launched its all-new Legacy regardless. Alfa Romeo debuted a new version of its 4C Spider. The New Shelby GT500 drew lots of attention, while the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ was the most crowded car on display. And how about the most expensive car in town? That was the Bugatti Chiron, which you can drive off the lot for a cool $3.5 million!
