America’s favorite auto manufacturer is already looking towards the future. Vehicles like the Ford Escape, Ranger, and Edge are getting some pretty incredible updates. While 2022 models are barely off the production line, drivers are becoming increasingly excited about the 2023 models already attracting attention.
Here are some of the highlights of what we know so far about the future of the Ford lineup:
Ford Ranger
Rumor has it that the 2023 Ranger will adopt a new front end that will rival the F-150. There’s not a ton of information available yet, but expectations are set on there being at least a turbocharged 2.3-liter engine rocking rear-wheel-drive. Of course, there should be a four-wheel-drive option and potentially an upgraded 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Hybrid engines are certainly part of the Ranger’s future, but probably not for the 2023 year.
Ford Escape
The updated Ford Escape is coming a little earlier than expected. This mid-cycle refresh is a precursor to the expected redesign slated for 2025. One of the most exciting additions to the new Ford Edge is the addition of a massive infotainment screen. The details aren’t exact, but all signs point to there being something as large as 15.5-inches that runs Ford’s Sync 4 software.
You may also have to get ready for some fresh exterior upgrades as well. The Ford Escape is set to have more aggressive lines, updated LED lighting, and a new grille that’s more on-brand with other fresh models.
Ford Super Duty
With Ford’s recent updates to its pickup truck lineup, it’s no surprise that changes are coming to the monstrous Ford Super Duty trucks. There aren’t a lot of specifics available right now, but a few secretive prototypes have been spotted around town.
It looks like the new Super Duty has some interesting exterior accents like chrome mirror caps, chrome strips, and potentially back wheels. It’s unclear if black wheels will be part of every trim level or not. Currently, drivers have to grab the Tremor model.
It does seem that Super Duty trucks can be equipped with a 6.6-liter PowerStroke V8 turbo-diesel engine. We are especially excited to hear that Ford may be adding its BlueCruise semi-autonomous highway driving feature.
Ford Fusion
You may have already said your goodbyes to the discontinued Ford Fusion, but it looks like this popular sedan/hatchback is making a comeback in 2023. The downside is that the Fusion may not be available in the U.S. right away.
It’s been hard to get a good look at the prototype, but several sightings reveal some interesting style elements. The Fusion will have slim LED lights and an oval-shaped front grille. Rear lights are also thinner bars that scream style.
For the time being, the Fusion seems to be on its way back, although it’s slated to first be available in China. The hope is that more rugged versions will make their way to the U.S. in the near future.
Ford Edge
The future of the popular Ford Edge is a little confusing. On the one hand, rumors suggest that this crossover will no longer be in production after the 2023 models leave the line. It seems that Ford is putting more focus on other SUVs in a similar class like the new Escape, Bronco Sport, and Mach-E. New models may be available overseas, which means the brand isn’t finished just yet.
On the other hand, there are rumors that Ford is looking to bank on the Edge’s popularity. This crossover will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that will deliver 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. There aren’t going to be many exterior changes, but updates to the infotainment system and software are almost a given.
Future Begins With Ford
It may be getting a little too early to know all of the details about the 2023 models, but Ford is releasing enough to get some attention. You can also expect new and updated hybrid and electric vehicles as Ford looks to take steps toward an innovative future.
