Concept cars give you an idea of what a manufacturer can do and what their vision for the future happens to be that you might want to enjoy.
Many of the different concepts that we see at the various shows around the world never made it off the design table and into production. This isn’t the worst thing that can happen, but it does make us wonder what would have happened if these five concepts would have been made into production models.
2006 Lamborghini Miura Concept
One of the most beautiful supercars ever created didn’t make it from the concept phase in 2006. The Lamborghini Miura is considered a gorgeous car but it was to be made as a 40th-anniversary concept model in 2006. Unfortunately, all we got was the concept cars of this model to give us the retro design, the style, and the curves that make us swoon at the Miura that never was.
2010 Audi Quattro Concept
One of the most interesting concept cars in the market was the Audi Quattro which was teased to us as a celebration of 30 years of quattro AWD design and drive. This sleek two-door concept was unveiled in Paris to give us a look and style that was easy to admire. The engine for this car was the same as the RS3 of the time, giving you 403 horsepower for the fun you want on the road.
2009 Bugatti 16C Galibier
The Bugatti 16C Galibier could have given us a hint at what could be, but it turned out to be another of the concept cars that were never made. This car had a central rib that ran the length of the body as a throwback to the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic and offered power coming out of an 8.0-liter twin-supercharged W16 engine to offer a lot of fun, but, sadly, it never got to the production phase.
2014 Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge
The Q50 Eau Rouge concept was made to e a rival to the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and the BMW M3, but it never made it to the production phase. This was one of the concept cars that might have changed the Infiniti personality, but sadly the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine of the Eau Rogue was left in the concept phase of development to leave us wanting and wishing.
2008 BMW M1 Homage Concept
The original BMW M1 is considered to be one of the most impressive supercars of the time and in 2008, BMW wanted to honor that first model with a truly fitting concept. The 30thanniversary of the M1 would have been fun with this new Homage model, but it sadly became just another of the concept cars that never was made.
Can you think of some concept cars that you wanted to see in production that never quite made it? Are there vehicles you saw cross the stage at auto shows that you wondered what happened to them? Admire these five concept cars and let your imagination run wild with what might have been.
