After 50 years and several very different design changes over that time, the recent Mustangs offer a look that genuinely is a throwback to days gone by. After going through several evolutions including a time when what is supposed to be an American Muscle car; the Mustang, became something that more closely resembled a family sedan than any kind of sports car the Mustang has come back stronger than ever with both guns blazing.
The 2015 Mustang look offers the throwback style of a true Muscle Car with its fastback look, powerful wheels, and awesome body molding that all gives the look and feel of a car loaded with power and ready to take on the road. Add the dual star-spoked wheels to the mix and slap a pony of the front of the snub-nosed grill and this Mustang is one Ford can truly be proud of for a full generation and what better than to have a throwback style on the 50th anniversary model.
The EcoBoost model of Mustang starts with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that is expected to offer 305 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. The3.7 -liter V6 engine, which is still offered, but being replaced by the EcoBoost, is expected to offer 300 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. The signature engine, the 5.0-liter V8 will come in above 420 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque allowing plenty of serious power to be enjoyed by any owner. All engines are paired with a six-speed manual transmission as a standard offering with a six-speed automatic transmission as an optional choice.
Ride quality will also be improved for 2015 with the addition of an independent rear suspension allowing occupants to enjoy a much smoother cruise down the road. Additional features offered for the 50th Anniversary Mustang include a rear view camera, push-button starting, an audio input jack, Ford’s SYNC system, and Bluetooth connectivity. The 50 Years Appearance Package is available for the Premium trim models and both the EcoBoost and GT models offer a performance package that includes a sport tuned suspension, larger brakes, and 19-inch wheels. Other features that can be added include adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation, rear parking sensors, a navigation system, the MyFordTouch infotainment system, a 12-speaker Shaker audio system and Recaro front sport seats.
The base pricing for the 2015 Mustang starts at $24,425 for a fastback with the 3.7-liter V6 engine. To move up to the new EcoBoost engine model the price starts at $25,995 and the GT will start at $32,925. Add the convertible to any of the Mustangs and the price goes up $5,500 and the automatic transmission will increase all price points by $1,195.
This is a great year to buy a new Mustang and enjoy the party being put on by Ford to celebrate 50 years of success in the Muscle Car arena. No matter which model is chosen, the Mustang offers a great history, a vast amount of power, and is still one of the most comfortable sports cars made by American automakers.
