It’s happening. The newest Ford GT500 will likely be upon us soon. We’ve heard the rumors and have seen the signs. Get ready for some impressive muscle.
It’s not a secret that a new Ford GT500 will be found on the market soon as many different diagrams and details have already been leaked to let us know this top model of the Mustang is preparing for an unveiling that will hopefully take place prior to the Detroit Auto Show in just a short period of time. This buzz around this new model began after an image if a supercharger was shown online that had the iconic Shelby snake embossed on it. Another image that gave us a look at the largest set of rotors ever found for a factory Mustang made it possible for us to confirm there is a new GT500 in the works.
Since these images were leaked, we’ve seen more and more information come to light to give us an idea of what the new GT500 will be and how it will be powered for us to have the drive we want out on the roads and tracks in our area. The engine wiring diagram that was released showed a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 which is what we expect to have under the hood of this car when it finally makes it way from Dearborn to our homes.
Rumors You Can Get Excited About
Even though the movement toward high-pressure fuel pumps has begun, it doesn’t appear that will be the case with the GT500. Instead, this car will be powered by the engine we expect and use a new style that will be placed in an upside-down manner to give it more performance and power. This layout is rumored to allow nearly 2.6-liters of displacement for the engine which would make this a car that has force-fed power plant that pumps out as much as 750 horsepower for the ride around the track.
This new GT500 is expected to make use of the new ten-speed automatic transmission that’s been developed alongside GM which has already made its way into the Camaro ZL1 from Chevrolet. The speedometer verification procedure that Ford put this new engine through shows us this car should be able to reach speeds of at least 200 mph, making an amazing car to drive on the track. In order to make this possible, there will be an amazing set of ceramic brakes to help keep this beast under control and allow it to be a car that can be a lot of fun for you.
Other details that have been confirmed include the use of damper controls for the Magnetic Ride Control suspension. The powertrain selector will differ from the GT350 by omitting the Track and Snow/Wet modes in favor of the Drag Strip and Launch Control settings that make the GT500 a car that will absolutely be impressive when it’s enjoyed out at the track. This car is one that will bring the fun and excitement you want and certainly will be the talk of Detroit if it’s offered and unveiled prior to the show this year.
