Photos have captured the next generation of the Ford F-150 out on the roads testing in the camouflage that we know to be part of the testing phase of what every automaker employs. Even though Ford added a generous amount of the vinyl wrap that’s meant to hide the lines and the contours of a vehicle, it’s easy to see that this new truck on the road is likely one of the many testing mules of the new F-150. This new model is one that we expect to offer us an evolutionary step forward for the brand.

A Traditional Item is Seen in the New F-150

There shouldn’t be any surprise when you hear about the fact that the new F-150 makes use of a solid rear axle. This is one of the three axles being tested to be the right one to make sure the F-150 has the equipment needed that can be right for you when you choose the truck you’ll drive in the future. Having a solid rear axle under this truck means that we will have another version of the F-150 that has the ability to handle the drive on the trails where we want to take this truck.

A New Ford Engine May Show Up

For many years, the Ford team made use of a 5.0-liter V8 engine for the power we desired near the top of the lineup. Ford has been working on a smaller version of this engine to offer us the same or better power and give us the same or better capability than what we have in the current Ford F-150. This new engine will be a 4.8-liter V8 that will replace the 5.0-liter model for the 2021 model of the F-150.

Because Ford is a year or two behind the generational changes for the direct competitors, which have both added new versions of their trucks in the current year, it seems that Ford can not only play catch up with the interior elements but take them a step farther to give us more of what we want. This was the case when Ford used an aluminum body during the evolution of the current model of the F-150.
