Consumer Reports gave the 2019 Hyundai Tucson the best reliability score it can give for the transmission, a 5-out-of-5. The 2019 model scored perfect in every category from Consumer Reports except for brakes. In the brake category, the 2019 model scored a 4 instead of a 5 for reliability.
Because of the high scores bestowed upon the 2019 Hyundai Tucson, Consumer Reports named it the most reliable SUV in its segment. The overall rating for reliability for the 2019 model came in at 91 percent, putting it ahead of competitors the Mazda CX-5 and the Toyota RAV4.

The 2020 Hyundai Tucson received high praise when it comes to reliability from RepairPal. The 2020 model was rated at 4 out of 5 stars in the reliability category, landing it in the top five for its segment of SUVs (number 5).
According to RepairPal, the Hyundai Tucson received this score for three main reasons:
1. The average annual cost for maintenance and repairs is low ($426 annually compared to the $652 overall average).
