The redesigned Hyundai Sonata has been impressing drivers so much that many are wondering if it’s supposed to be a luxury sedan.
No, the Sonata is not technically a luxury car, however, its generous complement of standard features and upscale interior are certainly impressive enough to make you feel like you’re in a luxury vehicle. This is especially true of the high-end Limited trim. Let’s take a closer look.
Hyundai Sonata Price Tag
One area where the Hyundai Sonata is definitely not a luxury car is its price tag. That’s good news for drivers who want a luxurious car without the luxurious price. The base Sonata trim starts at around $23,600, and it still has a generous list of standard features. The Sonata Limited, which is the top trim, starts at around $33,500. Even the Sonata Hybrid starts at a reasonable price around $35,300.
Long List of Standard Features
The great thing about the Hyundai Sonata is that you don’t necessarily have to spring for the Limited trim to get a nice amount of standard features. The entry-level SE comes with an eight-inch touchscreen, abundant driver assistance features, and Apple/Android connectivity. Move up to the SEL and SEL Plus trims, and you can get even more creature comforts like power seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. However, the Limited Sonata trim is hard to tell apart from a luxury vehicle with its genuine leather seats, upgraded Bose audio system, and ventilated front seats.
Hyundai Sonata Limited Luxury
The Hyundai Sonata Limited offers an exciting amount of features when fully loaded. Some of those features include real leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, a surround-view camera, a panoramic sunroof, and remote smart parking assist among many other great features. You can also add extra features for prices ranging from $169 to $330. For example, an auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink is $295. The Winter Weather package only costs $330 to upgrade and is a great option for those in four-season climates. This package includes mudguards and rugged interior floor liners to protect against slush and snow.
Hyundai Sonata Limited Hybrid
The Sonata Limited Hybrid goes a step further from the gas-powered Sonata in terms of luxury and cool features. The Hybrid powertrain is actually more powerful than the gas-powered Sonata, and it still gets up to 50 MPG on the highway. On the Hybrid Limited, the panoramic sunroof does even more. It actually has built-in solar technology to charge the hybrid battery. You can see the result on the display cluster, which shows you where the energy is being distributed.
If you’re looking for an incredibly practical and affordable car with impressive luxury features, then the new Hyundai Sonata is one car you’ll want to see up close.
