For drivers who want to dip their toes into the world of electric vehicles, but are not yet ready to commit, Hyundai’s got a program that might be right up your alley. Earlier this month, Hyundai announced its all-new app-based subscription service, Evolve+ EV. This innovative one-of-a-kind app allows drivers to pay a monthly fee and experience the power of a Hyundai electric vehicle at a surprisingly affordable price point.

What Is Offered with Hyundai’s EV Subscription

Evolve+ EV subscription service will include vehicle insurance, roadside assistance, and maintenance. With this comprehensive coverage, drivers can get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle with full confidence. While hopefully temporary, the only downside of the subscription service so far is that drivers will only be able to choose between Hyundai’s electric Kona and the Ioniq 5 Electric vehicle models. It’s not yet clear if other models will become available as their electric vehicle counterparts emerge. For example, electric offerings of the Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid, or the Hyundai Elantra HEV could become available in this subscription offering down the line.

Who Can Utilize the All New Evolved+ EV Subscription Program

This Innovative subscription service will be available in seven cities across six states. Because of the program’s rather generous offerings, drivers who are curious about electric vehicles but are not ready to dive in fully will find this month-to-month subscription service to be one of the most affordable ways to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle.

Subscribers can cancel the membership anytime and there are no additional financial obligations beyond the month-to-month commitment. So just how much will this subscription program cost you? Opting for the Kona Electric will run you $699 a month while the subscription for the Ioniq 5 five runs at $899 a month. While these may seem like a hefty price tag to start with, drivers should keep in mind that this includes insurance, roadside assistance, and maintenance costs. Plus, this monthly payment is quite comparable to many lease programs for newer vehicles.

Signing Up for Evolve+ EV Subscription

Navigating the app is pretty straightforward. Drivers in participating states can go onto the app, find a car that they like, and pay right through the app. Monthly terms run for 28 days and offer drivers 1,000 miles of drive time. If you do go over the 1,000-mile limit, there’ll be a charge of $20 per 100 miles. After a total of 1500 miles, drivers will look at quite a hefty price tag of a dollar a mile. If you happen to drive under the 1,000-mile limit, you can enjoy rollover mileage for the following month if you re-subscribe.

To pick up a car, you simply need to drive to your local dealer and pick up your Hyundai Kona or Ioniq 5. Once your month is up or your subscription has concluded, you simply need to drop off your Hyundai vehicle back at the dealer. The program is restricted to drivers 25 years or older and drivers must have a credit score of 650 or higher and at least 3 years of a clean driving record.
