Alfa Romeo assures us the Giulia GTA (short for “Gran Turismo Alleggerita”) is legal to drive here which makes it a great choice for driving.
If you’re one of the lucky 500 people to get your hands on this racing legend, prepare to have your mind blown and your arm hair permanently standing on end. You’ll have a hard time believing it’s actually street legal. Based on the iconic 1965 Giulia GTA, today’s version pushes the envelope on innovation, style, and performance.
A Leaner Legend in the Making
Remember how the A in GTA stands for “Alleggerita”? It’s the Italian term for “lightened.” Carbon fiber replaces heavier metal parts, such as the driveshaft, much of the front fascia, and rear fender extensions, while aluminum replaces parts throughout the engine, doors, and suspension system. And instead of glass, the windows are comprised of a lightweight resin called Lexan. Compared to its relatively lean sibling, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the GTA is an astonishing 220 pounds lighter with an eyebrow-raising 6.2 lb/hp weight-to-power ratio.
The GTA is a four-seater, but if you’re hardcore, Alfa Romeo is also making a limited number of GTAm models. The GTAm swaps out the rear seats for a roll bar and space to stash track necessities such as helmets, fire extinguishers, and other racing gear (and, yes, it’s street legal, too). But if you’ve gotta drop the kids off at school, you’re not sacrificing a whole lot in the standard GTA.
Got 3.6 Seconds?
Under the hood of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is an absolute beast. Or make that 540 of them. This massive herd of horsepower combined with mind-blowing torque rockets you from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. And while they may not see you coming, they’ll surely hear the roar of the GTA’s Akrapovic titanium exhaust system.
As you would expect, an immense amount of engineering went into the Giulia GTA’s high-speed handling. The front and rear wheel tracks were widened by 50mm, and the engineering team developed specialized springs, shocks, and bushings for the suspension system. The GTAm’s aerodynamic front piece is further optimized with a larger front splitter and a carbon rear wing.
A Feast for All of Your Senses
The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA’s interior is designed to please all of your senses. As you would expect in a high-end luxury sports car, the seats, door panels, dashboard, and glove compartment are covered in 100% Alacantara leather trim. Matte carbon inserts further assert the racing aesthetic in the GTA.
As we mentioned above, a fully upholstered “basin” replaces the rear seat in the GTAm. This version also removes the door panels and replaces the handles with a belt that opens and closes the doors.
Don’t Miss Your Chance to Get Your Hands on a Legend
No one creates a luxury sports car like the Italians. From its breathtaking design to its heart-pounding performance, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm are legends in the making. If you’ve decided you can’t live without one, you’ll need to find an Alfa Romeo brand ambassador to help you get your hands on one. You’ll even get a racing suit with gloves and shoes plus a racing helmet and personalized car cover.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA isn’t the easiest car to add to your garage, but it’s so worth the effort.
