It seems like only yesterday that the latest generation of the Chevy Blazer appeared on the scene as a sporty new midsize crossover SUV.
This SUV came in for 2019 with a new look, build, and drive compared to the early days of the Blazer name. For 2023, we get a mid-cycle refresh to this Chevy SUV, offering more tech and upgrades that will make this vehicle more fun to drive. The Blazer is already a sporty midsize crossover SUV, but the upgrades for the new model year make it a little bit better than before.
What’s New for the 2023 Chevy Blazer?
Exterior Improvements
Subtlety has no home in this SUV, but the changes to the exterior are subtle indeed. You’ll see a fresh face with an improved grille design and minor changes to the lights. Up front, the lighting changes to give us a two-tier setup with new LED daytime running lights on top and LED headlights below. Looking to the rear, you’ll find new LED taillights offering the brightness needed to let other drivers know you’re stopping on the road.
We also see new wheel designs that come in 18, 20, and 21-inch sizes, providing us with new stylish looks where we want them. There are also four new paint colors, which gives us some fresh new ways to have this sharp-looking SUV stand out in a crowd of crossovers on the road.
These new paint colors are Fountain Blue, Sterling Gray Metallic, Cooper Bronze Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. You can also enjoy a trim-exclusive Nightshift Blue on the RS model if you desire.
What are the Tech Updates?
We look to the interior of this SUV for the upgraded tech that we’ll find. You’ll see a new 10-inch touchscreen, which is larger than before and standard on all Chevy Blazertrims. If you select the RS or Premier trims, you’ll have standard wireless device charging, which is an option for the lower two trims. Adaptive cruise control is available across all trims as part of the safety package you want in this midsize SUV.
What’s It Like to Drive this SUV?
The sporty appearance you see built into the Blazer finds its way to the driving dynamics. This impressive SUV gives you something we normally only see in Mazda vehicles. If you’re at all familiar with the Mazda SkyActiv technology, you know this feature delivers maximum torque at low rpm levels. This Chevy SUV does the same for you. With the base powertrain, you’ll reach the maximum torque level at 1,500 rpm, which means you can scream off the line with some amazing acceleration.
Find Ample Passenger and Cargo Room in the Blazer
The Chevy Blazer competes in the two-row midsize crossover SUV class. This allows you to have lots of room for your passengers across both rows and a generous amount of cargo space. These two things don’t always come together, but they certainly do in the Blazer. Rear passengers have 39.6 inches of let room and you’ll see 30.5 cubic feet of storage space behind theses seats. When necessary, you can fold the rear seats down and enjoy 64.2 cubic feet of useable cargo space in this SUV.
