A recent study by ZETA shows us that EVs are not much cheaper to drive than their gasoline-powered counterparts.
While the driving range isn’t matched perfectly, even with models from the same family, an electric vehicle is now three to six times cheaper to drive, thanks to the continued increase in gas prices. ZETA is short for Zero-Emission Transportation Association which studies the differences in the cost of driving various vehicles on the road. A small part of their most recent study gives us an idea of the cost of powering gas and electric vehicles. This recent stud uses a national average price per gallon of gas of $4.32, while the national average for a kWh fee of $0.14 each.
