The Geneva Motor Show gave us a look at a variety of different new vehicles and the models that we might want for the drive. For those of us who spend a lot of time in the city and want to have a car that’s designed and ready for the ride on the roads around a city, Fiat is a brand that has been able to offer us a great choice of new and used Fiat models. At the Geneva Motor Show, this brand brought forth a concept model that looks like it could be the future Panda redesign, which is a name we haven’t heard from Fiat for a long time.
Fiat Wants to be Affordable but Cool
The concept that showed up in Geneva is called a Centoventi EV Concept and it is a car that could be the one to offer the drive you want in a city. The name of this car stands for the 120th anniversary for Fiat. As you can tell from the name, Fiat has been around for a long time. The style and the personality desired for this new model from Fiat is for it to be an ABC car which means Affordable but Cool to drive.
Styled Like the Panda
When you take a look at the new Centoventi EV Concept, you’ll see a similar style to the 1980 Panda that we admired several decades ago. This car is a small five-door hatchback that has the dimensions to barely fit five doors on it but offer the practical size and function that you need. The original Panda influence can be seen and it could be a car that makes its way to the market in 2020 to give us another classic style that’s been modernized to be one we love to drive.
Features of the Fiat Centoventi
This new concept model has suicide doors with no B pillar which would likely be deleted for the production version for safety reasons. Internally, the fiat offers a comfortable attitude and looks larger than you would expect because of the lack of a transmission tunnel. The electric powertrain of this EV is good for 62 miles of driving on a single charge, but that can be increased. Fiat says the batteries can be multiplied by taking the car to a service station and having more batteries added to increase the range to a maximum of 310 miles on a single charge.
The Fiat Goal for this Car
The goal of this new car that will become a production model is for the Centoventi to become the cheapest battery electric car on the market. This could make the Fiat the one that many people want to drive, especially when you spend most of your time in the city. If you add the extra batteries, this car could be one that has one of the longest ranges on the market from a single charge. It might be renamed to the Panda, but it could keep the name it currently has as well.
