Deemed the Most Reliable 3-Row SUVs in 2021 by U.S. News & World Report, GM takes four slots with four of its top SUVs in the Chevy Traverse, Chevy Suburban, GMC Acadia, and the GMC Yukon. The list was prepared using predicted reliability scores, which essentially estimate how often the vehicle requires minor to major repairs as well as the cost of general and routine maintenance.
Let’s take a closer look at these four GM three-row SUVs.
GM Model – Chevy Traverse
The highest-ranked GM vehicle on this list is the Chevy Traverse. With a starting price of $29,800, the 2021 Traverse scores 8 out of 10 from US News and achieves an 85 out of 100 reliability rating. The Traverse is an exceptionally roomy midsize SUV with room for up to eight people if you keep the second-row bench. All models come with a nice complement of tech and safety features. A seven-inch touchscreen is standard, but you can upgrade to a larger version.
Chevy Suburban
The Chevrolet Suburban comes in with an overall score by US News of 7.9 out of 10 and a reliability rating of 83 out of 100. The starting price for a 2021 Chevy Suburban is about $51,000. As a large SUV, it’s no surprise that Suburban boasts an incredibly roomy cabin and cargo space that easily leads its class. Three rows of seats offer passenger room for nine people, and there will still be leftover room for plenty of cargo. Chevy doesn’t skimp on interior quality for the Suburban either as cabin materials are quite premium and a 10.2-inch touchscreen is a standard feature. The Suburban also comes with a nice array of standard safety features.
GMC Acadia
The 2021 GMC Acadia has a starting price of about $29,800. US News originally gave it a 7.3 score out of 10, and its reliability rating is 81 out of 100, which is considered Great. The Acadia offers good safety scores and competitive fuel economy for its midsize SUV class. A base four-cylinder is the standard engine, but the Acadia also offers a turbocharged four-cylinder and a V6. Both engines feature a bit more power for everyday driving. The Acadia can seat six or seven passengers, depending on whether you get captain’s chairs for the second row.
GM Model – GMC Yukon
Slotting a bit higher than the Acadia on this list, the 2021 GMC Yukon has an overall score by US News of 7.7 out of 10 and a reliability rating of 84 out of 100. Like the Suburban, the Yukon is a large family SUV with room for up to eight people and expansive cargo space. The second-row bench can be swapped for captain’s chairs, which cuts the seating room to seven. The Yukon features an upscale cabin, lots of standard safety features, and wireless connectivity for Apple and Android devices. Despite its large size, the Yukon rides and handles smoothly.
If you’re looking for a medium to large GM SUV, these are four standout models that should be on your shortlist. When you need towing ability and a lot of room, then the Yukon and Suburban easily fit the bill. For better fuel economy but still plenty of room, the Acadia and Traverse are nice choices.
