Kept from the US, We Might See this SUV Soon

Something fun and interesting cam about from Acura in recent years and it’s still a tough find for performance SUV fans.
When the 2016 Beijing Motor Show took place there were several models on display that we knew wouldn’t make their way across the ocean to make its way to the US, but one of those shouldn’t have been a model that shares a platform with one of our favorites. This was the show that gave us something to think about and wonder why the new model on display at the Acura booth wouldn’t be making its way to the US at all. This was the thought we were left with when the show closed.

The reason we thought Acura should bring this small SUV to the US was the fact it shares a platform with the subcompact favorite from the Honda brand in the HR-V. Since we already had the HR-V, a luxury model that was built to be similar in size should have been an easy choice, but when the CDX showed up in Beijing we were immediately told this SUV would not make its way to the US and be part of the market we have for the vehicles we want to drive from the SUV market but on the luxury level.

Finally, a Break

Recent news has come to the surface that tells us the CDX may be heading to the US in the near future. This little SUV is one that’s built in China and is only sold in that market, but there’s no doubt we have the ability to see this SUV become a serious performer in the US as a model that we’ll want to drive and experience on a daily basis. This news has come from the Acura team and the brand has filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office just a few days ago to give us an idea they are serious about bringing the CDX to the US.

What would make the Acura brand decide it’s time to bring this SUV to the US? The fact that other, competing brands are already offering us SUVs at this size will make a huge difference regarding what we can have for the drive on the road. So far, Lexus has been able to dominate the segment with the NX which has become one of the most popular SUVs in the compact luxury class for us to drive on the roads in the US.
When will we see the new Acura CDX make its way to the US? No definite date has been announced as this small SUV becomes one that can be the right choice for the driving experience we want on the road. Look for this Acura model to become the next of the Chinese-made models that are sold in the US under a brand that’s not based in China. Certainly, we’ll have more details and specifics regarding the CDX if it does come to the US. Let’s hope it does because this little SUV could certainly become a favorite among drivers in the US very quickly.
