Subaru can now also be classed as a formidable fast and furious rally supercar! This car shows that this brand has grown in the racing world.
It’s no longer a brand just associated with a safe, reliable, spacious family car ideal for packing up the kids, dogs, and camping gear.
Three Races –Three Wins!
Subaru Motorsports USA’s three racers have dominated the tracks at the ARXRallycross of Gateway in July winning first place in both races during the action-packed double-header weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway. Chris Atkinson comfortably won round 2 on Saturday with Swedish driver, Patrick Sandell winning the third round on Sunday. Scott Speed lived up to his name winning second place on Sunday, after a victory at the season’s first race in Mid-Ohio in June. So that now makes it three victories so far for Subaru -and we’re only halfway through the season. Speed, the reigning ARX Champion, now leads the 2019 drivers’ championship standings. This was the first-ever ARX double-header weekend with two full rallycross events packed into just two days and offered plenty of thrills as the Subaru team raced around the tracks to victory.
Super Car –Subaru WRX STI
The Subaru vehicle driven by all winners is an amped-up version of the Subaru WRX STI. And the great thing is there is a consumer version available. But it may not be quite as fast! The 2019 American Rallycross Championship took place over nearly five months –with a total of six races. The remaining events will take place in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada, Austin Texas, and will conclude atMid-Ohio in Lexington Ohio, in October.
It’s All Subaru!
“Three races, three wins, and it’s all Subaru,” said winning driver Patrick Sandell after Sunday’s race. “This is the most fun track in the series and it was such an awesome weekend. There are some really fast dirt sections here which I really like, so when I got the win in the semis I knew I would have a great chance to win if I got the launch right,” he added. The winning team now hopes to keep the momentum going in the remaining races coming up over the next few months. Subaru Motorsports USA is managed by Vermont SportsCar.
