Looking for the grandest GMC Canyon yet? Check out the AT4X. It might be a small pickup truck, but it is strong and capable, willing to take on almost anything you put in front of it. The AT4X takes the off-road capabilities of the AT4 and gives it even more. We’re talking more equipment inside and out. You can find the GMC Canyon AT4X at GMC dealers now, and it’s worth checking out.
Let’s Start with the Power and Performance
Pickup trucks, even small ones, are all about the power. The GMC Canyon AT4X has a 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder engine under its hood that makes 310 horsepower and gets 430 pound-feet of torque. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with four-wheel drive.
When you want to tackle terrain that the average pickup truck can’t handle, the AT4X has the equipment to do it. It comes with a driver selectable electronic full-locking rear differential, rock sliders, mud-terrain tires, and an off-road suspension with a 3-inch lift. The AT4X even upgrades the alternator to a 220-amp version instead of the 170-amp version in the regular AT4.
What Do You Get Inside the Cabin?
The Canyon is not a luxury vehicle, but it’s a GMC, so you see it at your GMC dealer, you can expect a nice cabin. It comes with leather upholstery covering the seats, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and power-adjustable front seats.
The tech inch pretty impressive. An 11.3-inch touchscreen sits in the center of the dash, and another 11-inch digital gauge cluster sits in front of the driver. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto bring your phone to the touchscreen, and the Wi-Fi hotspot makes connecting to the internet easy no matter where your off-road adventures take you. A 12-volt power outlet means you can plug in electronics or use the wireless charging pad to make sure your phone stays charged.
Cameras to See on the Trails and Off
We’re used to seeing rearview cameras on all kinds of vehicles now. They give us a good view of what’s behind us, so we can avoid hitting it. The GMC Canyon AT4X not only has camera views to see behind you, but it also has cameras that show you what’s underneath the truck. Front and rear underbody cameras help you see large rocks and other obstacles on the trails, and even have an integrated washing function to keep the vision clear when you drive through mud.
In addition to these underbody cameras, it also has the 360-degree surround-view cameras, for a top-down view around the Canyon. With up to 10 different views, you won’t miss a thing.
The GMC Canyon AT4X takes off-road driving to new levels. The best way to get an idea of what this truck can do is to check it out at your GMC dealer and take it out for a test drive.
