What Toyota has created is called the Toyota Tundra Pie Pro Maker and it’s a glorious Pizza salon on wheels.
When you think of a pizza delivery service you might picture your neighbor or their kid in their car and a small sign on top that tells you the name of the company they work for. The pizza you order has to go from the oven at the shop into the vehicle and then drive to your location to be delivered to you. Most of the time, we have piping hot and fresh pizza to enjoy, but sometimes, this wait from oven to the table can leave us with cold and unsatisfying pizza that we wish we’d picked up on our own.
The Toyota Solution Arrives at SEMA
The SEMA Show is one place where the strange, out of the world, and amazing ideas that come to the heads of designers around the world are shown. Imagine how cool it would be if a truck could pull up to your home, sit outside for less than ten minutes, and deliver to you a hot pizza right from the oven. The time from oven to the table would be cut to nearly nothing and you would have a hot and enjoyable meal.
What Does the Pie Pro Maker Use?
The bed of the pizza-making Tundra is fitted with a refrigerator, a pair of computer-guided articulating robot arms, and a portable, high-efficiency conveyor oven. These components are powered to make the pizza you order in six or seven minutes and one of the arms cuts the pizza into six perfectly identical slices and then puts the pizza into a special Pizza Hut branded box before delivering the pizza to customers through a slot in the side of the bed.
What I Forgot to Mention
Not only is this cool Tundra that showed up a SEMA a truck that’s making everyone hungry and then satisfying that hunger with delicious pizza, but it’s also a truck that doesn’t emit any harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. This is a Tundra that’s powered by a hydrogen fuel cell electric powertrain that emits only water vapor. From the engine under the hood to the pizza-making equipment in the bed, everything in this truck is powered by the hydrogen power that’s under the skin of this truck that could make it a great vehicle for you to have the pizza you want.
Not the First, but it Could be the Best
While this new Toyota Tundra Pie Pro Maker isn’t the first specialized pizza delivery vehicle, it could easily be the best one. We’ve had the Chevy DXP which is a special Spark model that was converted with a small oven to keep the pizza hot. This new truck is something more and it certainly makes a huge difference that it can make a pizza for you and that it’s powered by hydrogen to be a green and satisfying truck that would be excellent for the pizza delivery business.
