WhatYouShouldKnowAboutAcurasNewAcuraWatch360

If you’re thinking about heading to your Acura dealer to look at a new model, it’s important to know about the AcuraWatch Advanced Driver Assistance System.

This new feature on Acura models adds more advanced capabilities with more radars, an upgraded front camera, and other important systems. Here’s what to know.

AcuraWatch 360 Highlights

AcuraWatch 360 is the new and more advanced Driver Assistance System from Acura. It includes Active Lane Change Assist, Front Cross Traffic Warning, and Lane Change Collision Mitigation. It adds more advanced features with more radars and better cameras, and it debuts on the 2025 Acura MDX Type S with Advance Package. The MDX is Acura’s flagship model. The regular AcuraWatch suite is still standard on every Acura model.

Advanced Safety Systems

Cutting-edge technology for driver assistance and safety is a big part of the Acura brand. It’s just as important as performance and handling. That’s why Acura continues to develop AcuraWatch and the newest version is ready to roll on the new 2025 MDX Type S. It adds several new features that upgrade it over the original AcuraWatch. The original AcuraWatch suite has also been updated to deliver advanced safety performance.

AcuraWatch 360 Improvements

Taking a look at the improvements for AcuraWatch 360, there are new millimeter wave radars on all four corners of the car, plus a long-range radar behind the Acura emblem. An updated front camera sits at the top of the windshield, and there’s a new steering wheel touch sensor. The new hardware means several new features have been added to the suite. It’s easy to talk about driver assistance systems in fancy titles, but how do they actually work and benefit you? Let’s take a look at each one.

Active Lane Change Assist

This feature works by completing a full lane change automatically when you toggle the turn signal stick halfway in the desired direction. For this to kick in, Adaptive Cruise Control and the Lane Keeping Assist System must be active. This feature works on geo-fenced divided highways detected through Google Maps and the built-in Google operating system.

Lane Change Collision Mitigation

Complementing the above system, this system mitigates a possible collision while changing lanes. If you start changing lanes with a vehicle in the way, the system will detect it and steer back into your original lane. If you start changing lanes at the same time as another vehicle, the system can spot the other vehicle and change back to the original lane.

Front Cross Traffic Warning

If you’re driving at a low speed or starting forward from a stop, this system detects vehicles approaching from the side and will warn you with audible alerts and a visual showing where the vehicle is coming from. This system might be one of the most important in avoiding blindside crashes from other drivers running stop lights or signs.

AcuraWatch 360 also enhances the existing systems and technology on the original safety suite making it easy to have more safety when shopping at your local Acura dealer. For example, it offers a longer range for the Blind Spot Information System and makes Adaptive Cruise Control smoother.
